About
My photography is a way to release the inner artist that strives to get out and play.
I tried to draw and paint while I was growing up but I never had the skills to make what came out of the tip of my brush what I saw in my mind. My Dad gave me an old rolliflex film camera and showed me the basics of B & W development/printing.
He would take me to industrial sites around town and we would photograph them. These never really satisfied me because something lacked in them.
What I came to realize that while my dad was an engineer and technically an artist, the more estoric values of beauty and form escaped him. He taught me composition with angles and lines but the form of a flower held little interest for him outside of that it was pretty. But show him a building being built and he would be out there on the weekend taking pictures. Was he an artist like me? No, but was he an artist? Yes!
He has built fabulous ship models during his life and went beyond mere drawings to include what the schematics never showed. Am I a better Artist then him? No..Maybe… Yes? Who knows, but I am a different artist and better for it by seeing what he created.
