Fall Maple Leaves

I’m Jeff Folger and a Salem MA, photographer and I’ve been reading Yankee Magazine for some years now. Like a lot of folks they have had Yankee sitting on their coffee tables for quite some time. I even asked my dad to send me them while I was stationed overseas and it would make long deployments to the gulf much easier while bringing a little piece of home with us.

Well, this year is!!! Yankee’s 75th birthday and there’s a video about the founder of Yankee Robb Sagendorph, as reminisced by Jud Hale. I got to meet Jud Hale on a visit last fall to Dublin NH and the home of Yankee Magazine.  Here Jud talks about what the founder Robb Sagendorph was like and what being at Yankee during the early days was like.

Edie Clark

The magazine has a 75th anniversary website up and running all year long. If you want to view old covers see classic Yankee articles then stop in. For those who dearly love Mary’s Farm writer Edie Clark, there is an article about her and the years she has spent at Yankee on this page.

Farmer's Daughter Gift Barn

In the fall I travel for Yankee Magazine as  Jeff Foliage and my job is to find the picturesque parts of New England and tell my readers where they can be found.

(I know it’s a hard job but someone has to do it)..

Last fall I was heading up route 93 to get to northern NH and then I followed it into Vermont and I got off at the first exit heading (more or less towards St Johnsbury) and I spotted this general store on the right.  (see pic on left)

One other thing I have the pleasure of doing is… to bring to light some of the wonderful places that will just make your day, The Farmer’s Daughter Gift Barn is just such a place.

I won’t describe the undescribable on the inside but one thing I did see was a sign that read…  “If you’re in a hurry, then your in the wrong place… Come to think of it,… You’re in the wrong damn state!!

Well there may be other stores that have this sign and if you have found one in your travels I would love to hear about it here!!
